“A Police Career”
Clif Edwards is uniquely qualified to present “A Police Career,” having been a state, local, and federal law enforcement officer. He has served in uniform, plainclothes, and undercover while patrolling in urban, suburban, rural, wilderness, marine, and school venues with vehicle, bicycle, canoe, airplane, kayak, helicopter, snowshoes, skis, motorboat, snowmobile, foot, and with a police dog. He has completed both a stress and nonstress academy, drawing a firsthand opinion on their strengths and weaknesses. Along the way, he has experienced life-saving, life-taking, marriage, divorce, single parenthood, lawsuits, and both winning and losing big cases. Few, have had such a diverse police career.
Clif is a charismatic speaker who has been connecting with audiences since elected high school class president. In three different Michigan State Police graduations, his peers selected him to represent them as their class orator. He has proudly and enthusiastically represented the Michigan State Police, the Napoleon Township Police Department and the National Park Service in numerous public presentations.
While a detective, he taught in every Michigan State Police recruit school and advanced trooper school from 1993 until his retirement in 2001. Twice, he was nominated as trooper of the year. While serving as a Napoleon Township Police Officer, he was contracted by a law enforcement training consortium to provide a variety of Michigan Commission On Law Enforcement Service (MCOLES) approved investigative classes to in-service police officers.
As a ranger with the National Park Service, he has provided custom designed training such as Reducing Occurrences of Assaults on Rangers (ROAR), Dynamic Defensive Tactics (DDT), Patrol Investigative Excellence (PIE), Within Arm’s Reach (WAR), and Law Enforcement Water Survival Training (LEWST).
Now, using his recently published books in the Paths Crossed series, Villains-Victims-Victors and Protecting National Parks as a springboard, Clif exposes his audiences to “Lessons Learned In the Line of Duty,” both professionally and personally, in an entertaining and meaningful way. His custom designed presentations on a “Police Career” will undoubtedly enlighten the audience to the rewards and sacrifices of these public servants. Presentation genres include:
